Spanglish

Monday, May 26th 2014

FAMILIA!

I totally jammed my finger way bad just about 2 hours ago and typing this email HURTS but I love you all so vale la pena. Sorry if its short no promisess.

The other day I realized that I speak spanglish FLUENTLY. Like its not even real! My companion and I realized that probably every other word is like a spanish word.. and that is when we are speaking ENGLISH. Wow.. so sorry If there are weird things I say without even meaning to!

I also realized that I am thinking in spanish these days becasue when we are teaching africans and things come out of my mouth that definitely DON´T transfer to english correctly.

"Friday, will you use your faith and follow the example of Jesus Christ and baptize yourself?"

WOOPS. Haha spanish to english failll. I died laughing inside the second it came out of my mouth. Luckily my comp took over quite nicely haha.

Anways, this week we had the most AWESOME amazing zone conference. Maybe next week if I have more time I will be able to tell you more.

But what is was ALL about was how Christ taught. How he loved. How he served. How he LITERALLY never thought about himself! He nevr thought about how tired he was or how much he was going to suffer. Christ, was completely focused on the salvation of others. He loves people no matter WHAT. Thanks to him each and every one of us LIVES! Each and everyone of us can change and get better every single day. He has a white blank page just waiting there for us to use!

Is it possible that we do the same?

Can we love the way Christ loved.

I want to love and serve how Christ did! To literally just overcome the natural man and lose myself in the work! It can be so hard to not think about your needs. But when we do it, we are the happiest. When we do it, we feel the most peace about ourselves. I love finally realizing and learning what it MEANS to represent Christ. It is hard to put it into words!

I love my mission because here I have come closer to my saviour than I ever have before! I have felt more joy than I ever have before. It is a battle every day though not going to lie. The natural man is the worst things EVER haha I hate it and I hate how it can effect us so so much. But it doesn´t have to. How can we love like Chirst loved? Pray. Man, its something I want to be better at. I want to be more focused in my thoughts so that I fully and entirely give my all.

As missionaries we are asked to give US! To give our hearts to give our wills.

These are just my thoughts lately! Its my goal.

I know that Christ is our saviour and redeemer without any doubt. he is there for us and loves us no matter who we are or what we have done. He knows our hearts!

I love you all! Happy memorial day!

FAMILY! I am dying laughing.. hahaha thank you for that great video (It was Emily's birthday so we attempted to sing and record Happy Birthday in Spanish to celebrate).. nice spanish dad sounds like its coming along nicely.. we´ve got a lot to work on when I get home.

Birthdays and any sort of holidays are just WEIRD on the mission. I liked my birthday but I am honestly glad that its over. I hate being 20 though. haha.

Anyways so..

For my birthday this year I spent it in Spain with my companion and we did some nice studying in the morning, some nice 3 hour weekly planning, some nice lessons, and yeah, we went to Domino's with the elders also during mediodia and that was fun.. Some members came too. It was fun but just felt like any other day! I never have been a huge fan of my birthday so all was good.

Had a nice little birthday party by myself.. see the picture attached

Probably the best part of the day was a SWEET street contact with the cutest Bolivian family. I am in love with all Latinos. I love being in Spain and getting to know Spaniards, South Americans, and actually just people from all over the world.

J. is so great and got baptized last night! It was such a sweet and special service. Over 77 people came so that was cool! It's great the love and support that is found in this growing ward. It was neat though. I have always LOVED teaching young people because I just have this HOPE that they will one day serve missions. Don´t know why but I just KNOW already that J. will serve one day and it just makes me the happiest girl in the world.

E. is doing awesome other than the fact that she found a short 6-DAY job in Madrid and we haven´t been able to meet with her for like a week. Ha that is like eternity in missionary time. But she should actually getting baptized on the 31st! Ojala.

Well... I went on intercambios with Hermana Floyd. It was great. We talked to a man who looks and sounds like Morgan Freeman.. hahaha I was mesmerized.

Much love!  Hermana Nydegger

Thinking mission??? GO!!!

Monday, May 12th, 2014

WELL.

Can you believe that we were talking face to face about 11 hours ago? And how fast the time flew? I love you all so much. How crazy and how DIFFERENT was it from the last time? How we all bawled the whole time last time and how this time not one tear was shed?

Such difffffferent points on my mission.

How we (can) change out here on the time of the Lord. How happy I am. Can I be a missionary for the rest of my life? I seriously am having a large what I like to call IDENTITY CRISIS these days.

I think though that each and every one of us has these on a daily basis!

But. we DON´T have to though! We are either a son or either a daughter of God and that is all that matters. It doesn´t matter where we are who we are withh or what we do because we are all the same. We are all here because we all CHOSE to be here. And how happy is it that we have a Savior who makes up for all of our flaws if we but believe.

Wherever I go i go with my HEART.

Do it.

Don´t know if I have said that before, I probably have. But think about it. We are all VERY different human beings but we all come from a very SAME father. WE are children of A perfect father who has given us life and given us all because he loves us and wants us to have all that he has. Differences don´t matter. We have found this light and peace to guide us as we go. Share it. We know we make it home through Christ. Keep the fire burning inside by living what we believe. And i mean LIVING. It is the little things. And growing. Loving and looking forward with a full heart and high hope of faith.

How many people are there out there who don´t know who they are. 1463204610847. I don´t know about you but that looks to me like we´ve got some good rewarding life fulfilling work to do!

We need to give it our all everyday. And that doesn´t mean that every day we have the same to give, but I know that when we give what we´ve got to give that day then we are blessed.

Name tag or not we´ve got WORK! And its a good work. Its a God´s work. we have been so blessed to be able to carry this work. it is WHY we are here. I know it will all of me. Share it. por favor! Anyone preparing to go on a mission.. the best thing to do is strengthen your testimony. read them scripts and GET a testimony. and a real one. and be as prepared as you can before embarking in the greatest thing we have..

I still am way way way biased towards missions.

Those who have not gone yet

go

I came on a mission striving to change the lives of other people when the life that was changed the most was my own

More HAPPINESS awaits you than you have ever experienced as you labor among His children those who embark in the service

BTW. My loving daughter Hermana Carroll and I have been called to serve another TRANSFER here in Torrejon together. Wut. Ha yeah thats 4 and counting TRANSFERS together. A third of your mission. No one saw that one coming. it has been the funnest thing watching her grow into a missionary.

Missions are inspired in countless ways

Went to an american resturant today in our natural fat sister missionary states

J. is getting baptized on Sunday

And, life is just so great!

os quiero

Where's the Adriatic North Mission?!?!?

Monday, May 5th, 2014

HOW IS IT MAY. Happy birthday Mary! You are a teenager now.

KATIE. Hollllly cow can I just tell you how much I am smiling right now!! ADRIACTIC NORTH MISSION. Yes, where the heck is that!

Thanks for sending me the maps dad hahahaha. Hey that is not too far from Spain! And its super close to Romania! I can´t tell you HOW many romanians there are here in Spain.. crazy how close we are! Team Europe.

I just want to say with all of my heart that THE GIFT OF TONGUES IS REAL. It is real. Don´t you fret Katie, the Lord will help you learn the language! Or should I say LANGUAGES. plural. Hahaha if it makes you feel any better I had to learn some african too.. ha.

I am so so so happy for you Katie! And not going to lie I am also a little anxious and scared! But it is going to be the most hard thing of your life and the most AMAZING thing of my life. I tribute all that I am am to what I learned on my mission and all that I am learning. Missions are theeee coolest most rewarding things on the possible.

Serving a full time mission at the age of 19 is the greater experience than you could EVER give yourself! I kid you not every. single. night. through good days and through the bad I get down on my knees and just thank my Heavenly Father for making this experience possible. I wish I could put it into words how cool missions are. I guess soon you will see for yourself! So proud of you Katie. Start praying for the people thats my advice for you.

My companion has gone there before and LOVED IT! She says that she went to this cute town called porec?? Katie I can totally picture you there.

Something that has in mind CONSTANTLY this week is 1 Nefi 3:7

I felt prompted to share it with M. and A.during a lesson and they just ate it all up and LOVED it. How true is it though. EVERY single commandment that God gives us, big or small, is possible. He will always prepare a way for us to do it! ALWAYS! I have learned that so much here and it is something that I am learning even more day by day. As missionaries we can literally take our mission calls and the things we do as commandments. It doesn´t matter where you go, what you speak, or who you are.. the Lord will pull us through! I know that with all of my heart. Missions are hard and challenging every where. Whether you are in Idaho, South Africa, Spain, Nicaragua, or CROATIA its hard! But it is so worth is and so doable. (is that a word) It is so possible and only through Christ is it possible! It is HE that perfects us. We have these incredible spirits inside of us that are so capable of doing MIRACULOUS things.. its just us as humans that hold orselves back. Think about and PRAY about how we can better ourselves. The Lord will answer us! And He will provide us the means to be able to do it.

We had the most AMAZING zone meeting that I have ever had in my life. I would share with you ALL I learned but you all (minus dad) would probably be bored out of your minds. Keep in mind I am just in full missionary preachy mode these days ha.

But. I will share one thing with you that I loved.

Every day is a battle but every night is a VICTORY.

Isn´t that awesome? I think that is so so true! How hard is each and every day. They can be rough and they can be battles. BUT when we do our best and never lose the faith we can lay down in our beds later than night and just think success. I just want to take this mission I have here in Spain and RUN WITH IT while I have it.

I swear I have never had investigators with such delicate situations but I have been just praying every day to be filled with charity for them that they will be able to regonzise the love of God. I love in the scriptures when it talks about Nefi just crying out of love every NIGHT for the people. What a sweet goal. I wanna have that same love.

We are teaching a DARLING boy from Peru who is 12! He finally got to spain a few weeks ago. He is the son of a recently activated lady. He is a tender mercy!

I don´t know if I have told you about my awesome and amazingly talented companion hermana Carroll? Well she is legit AN ANGEL when she plays the violin. It is so pretty! And get this on Saturday two area 70s are coming to talk to all of the Madrid missionaries and they have asked my companion and I to do a musical number. Not nervous at all........ oh wait yes I am haha. We don´t have any music. But I am excited. We came up with a sweet medly to Savior Redeemer of my Soul and Called to Serve.

I can´t BELIVE that 3 transfers ago the idea first came to my mind that I could possibly be leaving my dear Tenerife. Time warp. Also my baby hits her 6 months soon.. WHAT? I hate the time thing. Yet I always find myself talking about it when Monday comes around..

LIV IS HOME? Wow! I can´t believe that. I remember her russian pictures with a russian syberian cat and russian coat coming up facebook like it was yesterday. Ha.

I love you all. I am SO soooo excited for you katie. I think we will probably overlap but there is a chance we may not depending on my release date. Gross. I hate the sound of that. But I pray that I will be able to see you before you head off to who knows what country haha.

SEE YOU IN 6! (DAYS)

Hermana Nydegger

Ps.. we went out to this old pueblo and look what we found! An old bull fighting stadium. I had to take a picture! Shoot out to Jess. She loves bulls!
